We use it to help decide whether it’s worth it to head up mountain or not. Conditions are generally spot on. Never failed us.

Such apps should be banned from store. There is zero functionality. You must pay. There is free trial but that's all.

I like to figure out when to hit it and when to quit it. These forcasts have given me the extra edge in doing just that. Locals are digging out when I'm in line baby!!

The individual area reports are accurate, detailed and super useful as a skier who wants to get all the powder days. In the summer the smoke maps are great too. I fully recommend OpenSnow.

Great info and great value. For any avid outdoorsman it really delivers exactly what you need on a daily and even hourly basis. You can literally see the the info for any US ski area. The info during the off season is just as valuable. They share forecast info so you can figure out your travel strategy for the fall/winter. Try it you will love it.

I first started using OpenSnow several years ago, as I produced films in the Colorado mountains. It specialized in snowfall forecasts, which were important for what I was filming. As it expanded, I continue to be impressed with the ease of use, accuracy, and wealth of information. It is now my go to weather app and I have 16!

If you have a Vail Epic, Ikon, or Mountain Collective ski pass, this weather & snow App is a must-have. Ski the best snow all winter long!
  • Good data, horrendous UX

The app is quickly becoming unusable. There is absolutely zero information hierarchy. It’s a dumpster fire of data at very best. For example — the search tab is in the center of your main navigation, but what action do you want people to take on that screen? What does it even do? There are 11 buttons and a search bar. Winter vs summer favorites? Why? If you’re going to do it this way, when are you switching seasons so content actually shows up again? It honestly feels like you’re publishing content, but never actually using the app. Use the app or hire a designer. Preferably both since it’s not free anymore.

I started with Open Summit, now folded into Open Snow. I’m sensitive to smoke, and I use the smoke map daily during fire season to plan when to go outside. I find the maps are accurate to within 1-2 hours, so I can plan errands, hikes and work outside for so much more comfort. My son loves the snow reports for snowboarding.
