As of the update released today, the app is still basically unusable. Don’t really understand how it passed QA. I pretty much just use the mobile site now, which is a shame because I like being able to build playlists of the article audio narration. The content is excellent, of course. Too bad the app is so hard to use. Every click and you have to wait a second before it reacts. The espresso app is fine so I don’t understand why this one is so bad. iOS apps in 2024 should not suffer from UI lag.

Lost all data about what I had already read or listen to. Just an absolute garbage app.

Some days, the app is unusable - constantly closing and doesn’t open the page it closed. No option to report an issue. No explanation for crashing. Other days, the app works fine. To pay a hefty annual subscription and have repeated issues accessing news online is frustrating. Luckily, I have WSJ.

I find myself reading less and less of the Economist because the app is SO terrible. I’m probably going to end my subscription this year as a result. Hope they can figure this out.

I look forward to getting my weekly fix of the Economist but this week I am unable to do so. The app keeps crashing as soon as I open the app. This app needs to go back to the drawing board. #BringBackTheEconomist
